Hi @visal02,
Welcome to HP Forums a great way to get support. It is a terrific place to find answers and tips! Thanks for the post.
I understand that the caps lock light always stays on even after turning it off. I’ll be glad to assist you.
Please perform a hard reset first.
Steps to do it:
- Power down the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery.
- Hold down the power button of the unit for 15 seconds to discharge static electrical charges inside the machine.
- Replace the battery and reconnect the charger. Try to power on the computer.
I found a great response on HP forums for issues like this. It was authored by Comptronic a certified HP forum expert with several posts to his credit. Please use the link to try and resolve it. It is an accepted solution in the HP forum.

Firstly, i really appreciate your effort.. I tried above steps you suggested.. I cud find few changes.. When i tried a clean boot up.. I cud c that capslock is responding normally during boot up. Therefore, i think it is not a hardware problem.
Thank you

Hi @visal02,
I thank you for your response. Due to a long weekend, there has been a delay in my response. I am glad that it has been established that the unit has no hardware issues.
I request you to update the bios. Please visit this link: http://hp.com/drivers to do it.
You need to type the unit's product# and follow the on-screen instructions. Please do a bios defaults also. I genuinely hope your computer works great and stays healthy for a long time.

Hi @visal02,
I thank you very much for your quick response. You have indeed done an amazing job of troubleshooting. Excellent work by visiting the HP support site and installing the drivers. I am really impressed with your troubleshooting skills. It is always a privilege to work with a tech-savvy customer like you.
Let's first isolate the issue to being software or hardware related as we have done numerous steps here. Please perform a hard reset first. Steps to do it:
- Power down the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery only if it is a removable one.
- Hold down the power button of the unit for 15 seconds to discharge static electrical charges inside the machine.Replace the battery and reconnect the charger.
Then the instant you power on the computer, please keep tapping on the "ESC" key gently several times. It should take you to the startup menu. Here Please tap the F10 key to go to the bios.
On this page press the capslock key and see if it goes off. Press it again and it should come back on. It should toggle on and off. If it does not and remains lit, then there is a hardware issue with the keyboard. Leave it under observation for 15 minutes in the bios to check if the capslock key lights back up on its own.
Please let me know how this goes. Thanks for being a part of the HP community and If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help. If you wish to say thanks for my effort to help, click the "Thumbs up" to give me a "Kudos" and also please mark it as “Accepted Solution”.
