I bought my hp Pavilion notebook in India. Now I live in the UK. For the last month or so, I've problems with my laptop. Whenever the laptop is on battery, it discharges very quickly. It randomly shuts off (not shut down, just shuts off with a gut wrenching clink of the hard disk) anytime below 50% charge. no notification of low battery or going into hibernation. It may happen in the middle of typing a sentence, or browsing.
I ran diagnostics. HP battery check software first showed a "weak battery" result. I was about to order a new battery, when I ran the software again, which now says "primary battery OK".
It is very confusing, as even if we agree that the battery has developed a problem, I can't understand why the system is not detecting low battery or putting the computer to hibernate, as per the settings. I've checked drivers - updated.
The laptop is just one year and 3-4 months old.
Should I replace the battery? Or is it a software error from the new windows 10 upgrade?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
