Hp pavilion ultrabook b004eo
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Dear HP support person to who it may concern.

My Hp pavilion ultrabook b004eo has  rather slow wifi speed.

So I was wondering if there is an replacement wireless card

that I could buy for it. If possible one that supports 802.11ac.

I heard that the wifi card has to be "whitelisted" in BIOS thats why I'm asking.

/With kind regards /Patrik.

Yes your laptop still has the whitelist. The only wifi modules that will work are specific HP parts listed in the Manual here:

Manual

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 802.11 b/g/n 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter, for use with computers with Intel processors 670290-005

Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11 b/g/n 1×1 WiFi Adapter 675794-005

Qualcomm Atheros AR9565 802.11 b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter for use with computers with Intel processors, not supported on Ubuntu Linux, (select models only) 690019-005

Ralink RT3290LE 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter (select models only) 690020-005

Ralink RT5390R 802.11 b/g/n 1×1 WiFi Adapter (select models only) 691415-005

None of these is 802.11ac or even 5ghz band capable.

Thank you for your quick and professional response!

It's a shame that I can't get 5ghz support for it, but now I know at least.

Guess I'll just sell it and get something else.
