I got an HP Envy x360 (model: http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/Laptops/hp-envy-x360-convertible-laptop--15t-touch-iris-gfx-w0z96av-1) a few weeks ago and I bought the HP USB-C to VGA Adapter (http://store.hp.com/NetherlandsStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=N9K76AA&opt=AC3&sel=ACC) to connect the laptop to an old VGA display. When I connect the adapter to the laptop, I first get an error that the USB device is not recognized:
This issue resolves itself fairly quickly, however, but after that every few seconds the following error pops up:
Trying the laptop and adapter combination with another display and VGA cable results in the same behavior. However, the adapter works with both displays when connected to my Lumia 950 phone.
The second error also talks about a "DisplayPort connection", but the adapter is for connecting via VGA...
Has anyone some ideas for solving this problem?

Unable to get video via USB-c to VGA adaptor. Is that, correct?
HP has never tested those types of connections and has not developed any kind of drivers for USB to transmit Video signals.
However, I request you to try a different PC as well as the different cable to check if that works.
Hope the above steps will help you finds the solution. Please share more to serve you.

Hi @Resolv_S,
Thanks for your reply! I'm unable to get video out via the HP USB-C to VGA adapter, that's correct.
You say that HP hasn't tested those types of connections, but the connector itself is made by HP. It would be pretty weird if they sold me something they've never tested, right?
I've tried the adapter with the only other USB-C supporting device I own, which is my Lumia 950 phone. As stated in the original post, the adapter works with that device; switching VGA cables and displays doesn't make any difference.
Hope this clarifies some things.

Hi@AurtherRump,
Thanks for the response.
I checked for the specifications and found that the PC has an HDMI port which is a dedicated Display port.
I would rather recommend you to use an HDMI to VGA convertor and check if that works
Hope the information shared will help you. Please share for more.

I am having the same problem with a usb-c to vga adapter. I am already using the HDMI for one screen and I don't want to waste another usb for a usb to VGA adapter (which I have and it works just fine).
I have a usb-c port and it should work. Please help me.
Thank you,
