Hi, i bought a fantastic Envy6-1100sl in the 2014. Used only for working with a small load. However, suddenly my wlan card (Ralink) stopped to work and disappear from my system and devices. Now the wlan's indicator led is always RED (also if the Plane mode is deactivated). Tryed to remove and reinstall (many times) the official driver from http://support.hp.com/it-it/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-ultrabook-6-1100/5296040/model/5305952#Z7_30... but it doesn't worked and now the only way to use wireless is using an external USB wlan card.
I am waiting to receive a new SSD to speed up my ultrabook; i will try to do a clean install of windows 10 on my new SSD hoping to get working back the integrated Ralink Wireless card.
My questions:
Can i try any trick to revive that hardware before new clean installation?
What i can do if after the clean installation the wlan card still does not appear??
Thanks,
Salvatore

Hello @cospps,
Thank you for the information!
I understand that you performed the hardware test on the WLAN Module, and it stated that the card was not installed. I understand that you checked the card, to see if it is installed properly. If you are still having trouble, then you may consider replacing the WLAN Module. You could possibly test the card on another compatible device. I hope this helps.

Hi, at the first thanks for the reply! Then below more information about the hardware:
WLAN Card model: Ralink RT3290 (wireless N 2.4GHz + Bluetooth).
I made the clean installation of WIN 10 on my new Samsung SSD 850 EVO. (Now i get another issue: my pc do not recognise the new drive and I don't know if i have to open another topic for this). However after the installation, with an empty system, there aren't any sign of WLAN Card.. I tried your solution:
Troubleshooting wireless and internet by windows not resolve my problem because it try to resolve the iusse of the only connected devices and only my ethernet card was analysed. Then i have been tried the hp diagnostic tool: power off -> F2 hold and power on -> component test -> wireless module-> RESULT = NOT INSTALLED.
How can get off from this trouble??
Another quest, i see that the bios is limitated, and I can't choose the AHCI mode for the serial ATA. Does it work automatically??
Attached a pic of diagnostic tool result, you can see also the red led indicator over the keyboard.
Thanks,
Salvatore

Hello @cospps,
Thank you for the quick reply!
You would need to start a new topic for the other issues. In regards to the WLAN Module, it is possible that the module was disconnected while you were installing the new SSD. Try checking the WLAN Module, to see if it is connected properly. You can try using the hardware test, to test the SSD. If everything checks out, then you can try testing the SSD on another device, to see if the Operating System is installed properly. If you can not choose AHCI mode in the BIOS, then it may work automatically. For more information, try reviewing the following documents:
HP Notebook PCs - How to Add Serial ATA (SATA) Drives to a Windows Installation

Already tried to remove and reinsert the the card from the board without success.. Are there a way to test if the slot is working? You know this model Have an uncomfortable access to the hardware with unique bottom shell..
Apologies for the other quest in the bad section. I will ask for support as soon as possible. Those links referring the windows vista installation.
thanks
