Hi

I recently upgraded my win 7 to win 8.1 (I have pavilion dv6-6080). My fan was too noisy and was working with little cpu usage. I downloaded and installed coolsense 2.2 but surprisingly it doesn't allow me to choose the quietest mode option like the old version :Crying: and now it's noise is driving me crazy, I want my loptop to be in quitest possible mode but burning hot, how can I change the settings, please help I cant use my laptop this way 😞

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. After switching to win 7 I installed hp support assistant whithin which comes coolsense 1.0. Then I found somewhere that this works also on win 8 so again I switched to win 8 and installed the old hp support assistant and it worked but it took me an entire day. I wish hp would leave the users the option too choose which mode they want in coolsense 2.2 (coolest mode, performance or quietest).

Thanks anyway.

The laptops fan noise is really annoying. I hope hp technicians fix coolsense and respect customers by letting them choose a quite laptop or a cool one! I wont ever make the mistake of buying an hp laptop again. I'm loving win 8 but I have to downgrade to win 7 so I can use older versions of coolsense.

Hi ahmads87. Sorry for your disappointment, unfortunately HP only provides Windows 7 drivers for your notebook. These documents won't necessarily fix your issues with CoolSense, but it might have a few tidbits that might help make it tolerable.

uninstall cool sense 2.2  download and install the old hp support assistant whith which comes cool sense 1.0 you can get it from http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64126.exe

after installing go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework\Resources\HPThermalAssistant and run HPThermalAssistant.exe and change the setting.

this works on win 8 and 8.1.

Hi,

Im trying to downgrade to coolsense 1.0

I downloaded the hp support assistant pack that you gave the link for however there is no HPThermalAssistant folder or HPThermalAssistant.exe in the program files directory. Is you link incorrect?

Do you still have the original HPThermalAssistant.exe? If you do is there a way you could upload it somewhere so people who want coolsense 1.0 can download it.

Thank you! any help is great appreciated!
