HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 won't print blue. I put in all new 902 HP cartridges.  The cartridges show as 'full' in the HP Smart app. I ran the clean head feature from the printer's control panel at least 10 times.. same result. All colors are fine except no blue on the page that comes out each time. I also manually tried cleaning the print head by removing the cartridges and putting a few drops of water onto the blue (cyan) ink port with a paper towel stuffed flat under the ink head. Nothing. I then tried some more water with a syringe just on the blue ink port. Nothing. I've tried the above things numerous times to no avail. Not sure if the print head is clogged or not but only blue isn't printing. A new print head is around $40. Not sure what else to try.. maybe just buy a new printer. I see lots of people reporting one or more colors not printing and some have luck with running the cleaning heads process a few times but no luck for me after 10 tried and manually trying to clean the blue ink port. Any one else have any ideas?? I am out of ideas.

Still no go.. tried manually cleaning the print head using ammonia and alcohol that I saw several printer professionals recommend. Now, my printer shows that my brand new blue ink cartridge is down to approx. 2/3 full even though no blue ink has actually printed since before I installed this brand new HP blue (cyan) cartridge.

Seems quite a few people have the same problem (not always blue) with this and similar printers based upon posts on the HP forum and other places on the web.

After seeing so many people with similar issues and not being able to fix the issue, I decided to buy an Epson EcoTank printer instead. Not going to spend hundreds of dollars to repair a printer when I can get another better printer for the same amount. HP likes to play games with their ink cartridges as well so it was time to move on.

I respect your decision.

Have a nice day!
