Printer failed to print, and panel said "updates failed to download...".  Tried to power off, then back on, but got same message.  Tried to unplug power and plug back in when I got the blue screen with "8AF30001".  I tried various reset steps, and got the same result.  The printer is now unresponsive and stuck on the blue screen.  I've had the printer about 1 year, and it's been great until now.

@Foreme, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is stuck at this error. Check if you can bypass the error to access the home screen of the printer.

If yes, let us try this:

Go to Setup > Tools > Restore to factory defaults

If not, I'm afraid this is a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I am not able to get past the blue screen error, as the printer is completely unresponsive.  On/Off button does not work, unplug/plug in results in same screen error.  I am 4 months out-of-warranty, so it will likely become an anchor...

@Foreme

That's unfortunate.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Are you saying I will need to "upgrade" to a new HP printer after 1 year?
