Had already printed several documents.  Tried to print another and received error message "Out of paper"  removed paper tray and added more paper to what was there.  error message returned.  Shut off printer and disconnected.  Reconnected and still error.  Rebooted computer.  Still error "Out of Paper"  Went into "Support" memu and did partial reset.  Error message still "Out of paper" when trying to "print", but can still do "copy" and "demo" sheets.

 

No recent changes to software or drivers.  

 

Any solutions or suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should help fix this issue.

 

Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the paper feed rollers and cause paper feed issues

 

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: An 'Out of Paper' Error

 

If the issue persists, then this could be a hardware issue with the unit.

 

Hence, you may need to contact HP Phone Support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp

Want to thank Rainbow23 for response.  Even though I couldn't access the link, the comment about dust and debri made sense so I turned the printer over and brushed, and air blasted the metal plates on the bottom and voila, the printer now workd just fine.  Thanks for reminding me that it's usually the simple, basic things that make the difference.
