Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500.  I do not have any equipment issues, but I do have a Expired 940XL (Black) ink cartridge that is full.  I did not pay attention to the expiration date when I purchased the cartridge and it expired a week before the previous cartridge expired (half full) and I tried to replace the cartridge.  Is there a way to bypass the ink expiration date, so that I can use this $48.00 cartridge?
