Hi @PANAGAKOS,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

False paper jams can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  • Turn off the printer: Start by turning off your HP OfficeJet 8020e printer and unplugging it from the power source. This will allow the printer to reset.
  • Inspect for paper: Open all the access doors and trays of the printer and carefully inspect for any small pieces of paper that may be stuck inside. Even a tiny scrap can trigger a false paper jam alert.
  • Check paper path: Use a flashlight to check the paper path thoroughly. Look for any obstructions such as torn paper, bits of labels, or debris that may be causing the false jam.
  • Reset printer: After ensuring there is no actual paper jam, plug the printer back in and turn it on. Sometimes, simply resetting the printer can resolve false paper jam errors.
  • Update firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. HP periodically releases firmware updates that can address bugs and improve performance, including false paper jam issues.
  • Clean rollers: Paper jams can sometimes be caused by dirty or worn rollers. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the rollers. Be careful not to leave any residue that could cause further issues.
  • Adjust paper settings: Ensure that the paper you are using is within the specifications supported by your printer. Improper paper size or type settings can sometimes trigger false paper jam alerts.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the false paper jam issue with your HP OfficeJet 8020e printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
