Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 6960. After the recent firmware update, which by the way was forced or I couldn't print, I can no longer use my cartridges. This is a printer that was purchased 3 years ago and is out of warranty. At the time of purchase, the agreement between myself and the warranty was that while non-HP cartridges were not recommended, they could be used, although it would void the warranty.

I need a downgrade of the firmware to allow for removal of this HP cartridge ban.  It's a violation of the terms and agreements that I agreed to when purchasing the printer.  Furthermore since the printer is no longer under warranty, the forced implementation of a firmware update is also a violation of my rights as sole owner of the printer itself. Please advise how to downgrade immediately.

Hi @RBG1980,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your printer cartridges. We always recommend using genuine HP ink cartridges.

I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

Please refer to the below links for more information related to your issue.

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.
