I want to print on 80 lb stock paper. I selected brochure matte and everyday matte, which used to print slowly (which I want), but now it prints as fast as plain paper, and the copy has very faint lines spaced about an inch apart across the image. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

A warm welcome to HP Support Community!

Power resetting the printer and then performing an automated/manual printhead cleaning might improve the print quality. Let's try these steps:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the product, refer to step 2 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

7) Use the automated tool to align and clean the printhead. Refer to step's 3 and 5 from this document.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks. Do you think that taking these steps will allow me to use heavy paper that prints slowly (as it used to)? And please understand that the the copies don't have streaks across the page; the lines are barely perceptible fainter shades of color, less than a millimeter wide, every .85 inch. The lines are invisible across white portions of the copies.

The steps I suggested in my previous post should improve the print quality. The print speed typically depends on the print quality Mode(Draft mode, Normal, Best etc) that you have selected. Instructions on how to adjust the print modes can be found under "Print quality and improvement settings" on this document.
