I have set my printer up on my home network behind a MAC address filtered router. But if the printer communicates with HP directly (about ink level and such) isn't it bypassing my Norton firewall? Does it open a window into my network for people besides HP?
Thanks.

So it's likely that the printer software is locked down from communicating with anyone except a legitimate HP server. If a stranger tried to get in it would say, "What th'?" and refuse to talk.
Nice. Thanks.
