HP OfficeJet 6958 All-in-One Printer

The screen says printer failure.  Looks like the ink cartridge stays in the right side when I open this compartment.  Had turned it on and off several times,  but still doesn’t print

Hi @Burgosst,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your printer. The ink cartridge staying on one side could indicate a problem with the cartridge alignment or the mechanism that moves it. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Cartridge Alignment: Ensure that the ink cartridge is properly seated in its slot and that there are no obstructions preventing it from moving freely.

Inspect for Jammed Paper: Sometimes, a small piece of paper or debris can get stuck in the printer, causing the cartridge to malfunction. Carefully check the printer for any jams and clear them if found.

Restart Printer: You've already tried turning the printer off and on, but it's worth trying again. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

Check for Error Codes: Many printers display error codes along with the "printer failure" message. Look for any error codes on the printer's screen or in the printer's manual. This can provide more specific information about the problem.

Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with the printer.

Clean Cartridge Contacts: If the ink cartridge contacts are dirty or covered in ink, it can interfere with communication between the cartridge and the printer. Carefully clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth and alcohol if necessary.

Reset Printer: Some printers have a reset option in their settings menu. Try resetting the printer to its default settings to see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
