After installing new ink cartridges through the HP ink program, my inket 6970 printer no longer prints on a 5x7 card properly. The first couple of 5x7 cards printed fine, but then the positioning on the paper was completely off and nothing else printed correctly. The printer sounds like it's printing, but when the paper comes out there is partial printing that is not lined up properly. I also tried printing a 4x6 card and the same thing happens.

Hi! @DCThrill,

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from the printer?

Have you tried checking with regular ink cartridges? Does the issue persist?

Have you tried printing from a different application?

Replace low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on the printer.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page, and then evaluate the results.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

A Print Quality Diagnostic Page prints.

Example of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Align the printhead

Aligning the printhead can resolve errors with Test Pattern 1.
Load plain white paper in the input tray.
From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.
Open the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.
Touch Align Printhead.
An alignment page prints.
Example of an alignment page
Wait until the page is out of the printer before you remove it.

Thanks for your reply, however, none of the options you suggested is correcting the problem. However, the issue started after inserting the new cartridges. As I mentioned, the first two prints came out correctly, but when I tried to print multiple copies it doesn't work.

@DCThrill,

Thanks for the update.

Did you try printing a print quality diagnostics page? Does the issue persist?

Also, as you mentioned the issue persists while making copies. It certainly sounds like a hardware issue with the printer.
