HP Laserjet P2035
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I need to print CP-1251 encoding with support for some unicode characters.

To do this, I use PCL Paraphernalia to generate the user symbol set with redefinition of unused symbols to the necessary ones, specifying an id different from the built-in ones. Then, to load this set into the printer I directly writing symbol set to /dev/lp0 and using the command  (symbol set ID 55R):

Esc(55R

However, the set does not change and an incorrect set is used when printing. It works correctly on the HP LJ 2550L, but does not work on the HP LJ 2035.

What could be the reason?

The P2035 is a host based GDI printer and therefore does not contain an actual PCL interpreter, that is done by the computer sending the print job, the P2055 does.

How does he execute PCL commands in this case?

Maybe there is another solution to the problem for this printer?

Honestly the best option is to get a non-gdi printer.

Replacing the printer is not possible, I have to work with an existing equipments

And why some PCL commands processing on 2035?

HP announced PCL5e support for 2035.

The Github description on this utility is pretty clear in stating that it only supports PCL5 and XL. And with the creator having passed you will not get any type of updates. I think you need to look for another solution. Is there a reason you cannot abandon the P2035?

Because this printer is part of the stand, and no one will change the configuration
