my Envy 5020 remained idle for six months,  ink seems to have dried, can the heads bei cleaned or I have to replace the cartridges?

@XavierZ, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

Cleaning heads will help you remove any clogs in the ink system. The dried ink cartridges cannot be brought back to life though.

 

However, you can try cleaning the ink cartridges and see if that helps.

 

Cleaning the ink cartridges can improve print quality. Clean the ink cartridges from the printer control panel, then evaluate the results.

  1. Load the printer with plain white paper.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup 

  3. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

A print-quality report will be printed after the cleaning is complete. Check is there is any improvement, if not you may have to replace the ink cartridges.
