I have just tried your soaking method. Unfortunately the black still does not print.  Letters in other colors - blue and red do print correctly.

After the soak method did not work, I went ahead and changed the black cartridge, even though the printer showed the fairly new cartridge to be full.

AND NOW IT WORKS.    It seems that the error was in the cartridge.
