Hi -

I have an HP 2544 running with Windows 8.1 on a fairly new HP laptop with the same problem - printing multi-page documents stops after 4 and a half pages.Error message says cant print this document. Just happened again today, looked on here , was about to try going into the Adv anced tab and messing about with drivers etc, went into Control panel, selected view Devices and Printers,  when I see there are 2 icons for the printer. One , set as default, says Network while the other says Class. So I made the Class version default, went back to print the document and all 8 pages printed, no problem. No idea if this is a fix or not - not teccy at all - but just letting you know what I did and it appears to have solved the problem. I hope!

Hi,

I found the answer to this by trawling forever, IT IS A HP PROBLEM, ARE YOU LISTENING HP ?

the fact is, the printer driver will only allow a sysadmin to print from certain programs, Adobe,Office, Wordpad there are more, but if you apply this fix, they will print

go to COTROL PANEL > USER ACCOUNTS > CHANGE USER ACCOUNT SETTINGS.

Drag the slider down to never notify, then restart your computer.

works on windows 7

effectively, you elevate your account to a sys admin, but if HP got their act together, they would sort this issue out, as it is all over their forums.

In the past i had problems with a hp pavilion laptop. That problem was worldwide. After one year most of the serie melted down. By my own tweaking etc the laptop is now 7 years old.

Not long ago i have bought this HP 2540 deskjet printer. Today i had to use it for important matters but it was a real struggle to get that printer working. Okay understood, don`t use the 2540 drivers. Use the 450 driver.

My gosh HP, when do you produce your products normally?

Windows 7 64bit.

This will be the last HP product at home.

I have the same exact problem with a brand new HP Officejet Pro 6830.    "Some" word documents will print others won't. They go to the printer, but they won't spool.  In about 15 seconds, they disappear and printer turns off.   I turned them into a PDF,  and the pdf wouldn't print.    I uploaded them to google drive and they spool and print from google drive.  Test document prints, others documents spool and print, internet prints.   Two phone calls to tech support, and they're telling me it is a  Microsoft problem.   This is BS.  If they don't fix tthis and fix it soon, I want a full refund.    Now that I found this thread, I am going to call and complain again today.

Hi @dkmich,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

thank you for this workaround.   I've been emailing myself the pdf's and then printing from my phone using eprint.   I was starting to think it was time for a new laptop.

Thank you for all your support,

I have spent several days trying to get this to work as far as i can see this forum has been open for 18 months without a solution.

I will be returning this printer tomorrow and never buy a HP product again and tell me friends and family to do the same.

Cheers

Everbody,

After more than 1 year of tests, I discover the solution for the problem "Some kind of documents not printing in Windows 7/8/8.1 using HP 2540 and m127fn". The solution is: Verify TMP environment variable. Only works if TMP is defined as %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp.

We work with TI infraestructure and system applications and in our customers, we change the TMP environment variable for another directory ("C:\Temp"). After that, the user not administrator can not to print some documents. We restored TMP for original folder and the user not administrator can to print Word, Excel, internet documents now.

I don't know what HP makes in your driver for these printers, but HP needs to fix this problem urgent, because the solution is very simple.
