Does my nut in. Scanner flashes at extreme left of scanner then moves 2 inches to the right and then back again to the left and this continues again and again, Varies from 2 up to 7 or 8 seconds

I understand that you are getting a scanner issue, I am glad to assist you.

Perform a power reset, reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

I likewise have the issue described here. I followed the suggested fix to download new driver, I still have same issue with my 4155e. I just purchased from BEST BUY and installed today 1.3.2022. I purchased the extended warranty but, using the dummy paper in the loader to stop the cycling. I suggest a firmware change or you will be bombarded with return printers. it is a real pain to take items back when you spend an hour setting it up and find a nuisance issue. It's also much more cheaply made than my Envy 5530 I bought 8 years ago. Let know any status updates.

I see the problem with the scanner bar flashing throughout the HP forum. I can only get it to stop by putting a paper in the copier feeder. What’s HP saying about this continuing problem. Mine is fresh out of the box today 1-3-22. Very disappointed with this brand new printer.

Thank you for the support. I downloaded a new driver “Hp Image”suggested by the Hp Print Doctor app today and it seems to have corrected the scanner movement issue. If it returns I will update. Hopefully, this eliminates the issue going forward. The Hp Print Doctor passed the printer and scanner evaluations when I reran it following the driver update. This is encouraging for a brand new of of the box printer.
