I am trying to print my own designs on custom size paper (size not included on the print list) and can't figure out how to set up the printer to print on a 10" x 6.625" piece of paper.  Can anyone help with this?

I downloaded the latest regular printer driver so am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to avoid paying for a printer to do the job.

Hello-

Ok, Lets start with the Win 7 machine side.

Click on start, devices and printers, then add a printer.

Choose add a local printer. Then pick "create a new port" and drop the box down to "Standard TCP/IP" port, hit next.

Uncheck the "Query the printer" box for me, and put your IP address 192.168.0.10 in the box that says "Hostname or IP address".

Hit next.

When the printer MFG box opens up, pick HP on the left (not Hewlett Packard) and pick HP Deskjet 9800 Printer (HP) on the right.

Click next, set as default (if you want), and finish.

Let me know when you reach this point.

Also, remember a click on the Kudos star to the left is a quick "Thanks" for a helpful post.

Hello-

I can help you install a DeskJet 9800 driver that will let you set custom media sizes.

What OS are you running and how is printer connected ??

I have an IMAC with the VM platform for Windows 7.  So the printer works of the latest OS10 from Apple as well as Windows 7 and is a wireless connection.  It does not, however, allow me to input a custom size paper.  I am trying to print custom greeting cards with my own photos on them where the sheet of paper is 10" x 6.625".  Any help would be appreciated as the only other option I have is to get a printing company to make them and then they are no longer "art" cards.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Not sure why you would want me to give out personal information. 😞

Hello-

No, it not personal info. It's actually the network address of the printer. You can view it by going to the printer and going into setup, then network, and then view wireless.

It will be a set of numbers like "192.168.1.24"

Sorry for the confusion.

OK - Mission accomplished!  It asked at the end if I wanted to share this device on a network so I said "Yes".  Hope that last part was right as I am on a wireless network, I believe.  I have a HP Media Center PC as well as the iMAC and they all print off this printer.  By setting it as the default printer does that over-ride any extra options I have on the Officejet Pro 8600??  It has the duplex printing feature that I don't want to lose.

HP Recommended

Hello-

No , the 8600 driver (printer) is still installed. If you want you can go back and set it as default. When you want to print with custom size media, just pick the 9800.

Use the 8600 printer when you want to duplex.

Where you able to change the paper size in preferences on the 9800 driver ??
