I want to put a password on my Pro 8600 Plus.  I looked in the guide and went to the printers IP address and password.

It does not show protected.

If wireless change your SSID in router router and change the password.

Are you asking about the password to connect the printer to your router?  Of talking about a password to enter in order to print?  Because that is not supported, sorry.
