I have owned this LaserJet M234sdw printer for about 6 months and has never given me any problems until today. I was scanning documents today and now the attention light has turned on, none of the buttons work, and the display only shows "79." I am assuming this is an error code, which I have looked up, and I have tried all solutions provided for this error code, but nothing seems to fix the issue. Furthermore, this error has made my unavailable to connect to my wifi network so I cannot conduct any troubleshooting or diagnostics to see what else can be done. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me with this matter.

This reset might work
Turn the product on while you press and hold the Resume button for 10-20 seconds. The Attention light turns on. Release the Resume button. The Attention and Ready lights cycle while the product restores factory defaults. |
This video shows another way to reset the printer but only for WiFi
Network setup video with reset for new router.

Error 79 is discussed here

If the problem is caused by the job (corrupted data sent to printer) then be sure to cancel the job at the computer by clearing the print queue.
.
There are several versions of the M234 printer. You may need to search for the correct factory reset instructions using google or bing. Alternately call HP.

I have the same error, and wonder if it occurred after a new version of Firmware was pushed to my printer. None of the reset recommendations are working.
I was able to finally get the printer working when I deleted the printer from my devices and restarted my computer.

Do update the firmware after clearing teh ER79 error.

Can also download the firmware from https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers
Key in the printer model number, download and update Firmware.
(If updated Firmware, then there is no need to disable IPV6)
Hope that helps!

Interesting, the firmware revision in that video does not match the currently posted firmware on support.hp.com which would lead me to believe that a bug was introduced when version 20240314 was released. Current posted version is 20231016.
Good thing for end users that a caring 3rd party posted a detailed video on how to get their machines up and running. Hopefully the IPv6 issue is resolved in the next firmware update.

The video was helpful, but I didn't follow all of the steps because I never could connect to the printer using an IP address. Removing the cartridge prior to restarting the printer seems to have knocked out the !79 code. Seems quite a few people are having the same problem at the same time, so I guess it was a stinky firmware update.
