I pulled out the paper tray (there is only one) to clear a paper jam. I accidentally put the paper tray back in at an angle and now it won't go in or out. It is about 3" into its slot. I have tried to get it out with the printer in its normal position and also with it upside down on carpet so I can see the paper tray from its underside. Are there some buttons or levers I should be pushing or something else to try?

Thanks much.

Hi @bdgrfan76, welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand your paper try is now stuck in the printer and will go in properly, nor can you remove it. At this point, I can only suggest you use some force to remove the tray. I would not try to force it in, it would be best to remove it and reinsert it.  If the tray gets damaged you may need to order a new tray and can do that using the HP Part Surfer.

I hope this helps, and best of luck to you.

Sunshyn2005,

I tried this earlier today and it didn't work. I tried again a couple of hours later, and after several attempts the tray finally came out, first one side and the other. Although probably not related, there was also a paper jam in the ADF and I cleared that before trying to print after putting the tray back in. It now seems to be printing OK.

Thanks much,

Sue
