Thanks so much.  I was frantic trying to reinstall and checking all my settings and am still confused as to why this would have happened all of the sudden but am so happy for your solution.

Hello,

Your solution has worked but when I restart my computer, I need to go all the steps again each time. How can we make it a permanent solution?

Thanks,

Thank you so much for this!   I was having the same problem with my Envy 6234.  I followed your solution, and although my username was already visible in the User Accounts box, I still completed the rest of your instructions - and it has worked!!!!  Brilliant.

When I get to the check names part of your instruction, it says all objected names can not be found. My user names is in the list and it does have full access.

I followed all of your steps and it is still not working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer so many times, my computer is confused. This is driving me crazy and only started after updating the last time.

I have the same problem, and it only prints PDF if I right click in Explorer and say "Open with" and choose Edge... and print from there.

I tried the solution. I added my name, checked it, and then got two error messages, one on top of the other: An error occurred while applying security info to c:\tempxxxxx.   Failed to enumerate objects in the container.

When I cancel out of that message, the one underneath it says "If you stop the propagation of permission settings, it might lead to an inconsistent state where objects have different settings. If you made this change by mistake, you should apply the correct permission settings immediately."

I've spent not hours, but days trying to get this new printer to work.  It's installed, it says "this device is working properly", it's set as the default.  The print jobs go nowhere...  the printer doesn't budge, the computer screen says "printing", and the job never even goes to the print queue.   I took it back to Staples along with my laptop, and they couldn't make it print either, but they didn't let me return it because "there's nothing wrong with the printer, it's your computer, your OS is old and your software is old".  I disproved that by hooking the printer up to a Windows 7 computer with 2010 MS Office, and (finally) got it to work wirelessly.  I'm using Windows 10 on a computer that was originally Win 7 but it's been through some upgrades and is 10 now.  I'm beyond frustrated.

Welcome to HP Support community.

Provide the printer model number or the product number?

Meanwhile, if you are facing this issue in Deskjet Ink Advantage 2135 printer, follow the below steps.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

If you are still unable to print from MS Office:

The issue could have been caused by the security settings changed on the user profile.

You may either create a new user, login with the new user profile to install the printer or Turn off the UAC from the control panel and Restart the PC.

Here are the steps to configure UAC settings:

Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.

To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.

if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

My HP printer stopped printing hardcopies. It wants to print to a file only.

I checked user permissions, etc. and found no issues. Still will only print a file.

Hi @predator63

Are you not able to make a copy?

To better assist you - May I have the exact model name of the printer? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Let me know.
