That did not work either. My printer has a yellow !. I just reinstalled it yesterday. I just keep getting the same error. If I can not fix it, it sucks. I will have to buy another printer. I just got this thing.

Since you mentioned you just got the printer @Glowzinski85, I suggest calling us. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
Best of luck!

Thanks for this, But I cannot see any printers when I try to add one. If I put in the IP address the printer then works, but I still cannot use the scanner - it wont appear in the print/scan panel.
MacOSX Yosemite, HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus. It all worked until a week ago by the way, I fitted Yosemite some months ago. 2hours on the helpline tonight, we reinstalled and downloaded the drivers twice. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for this, no luck so far. Printer is there in Systems preferences , though just named by an IP address (different from last time) But - Wont print, doenst show levels etc, and still doesnt see or let me add the scanner in Systems Preferences. Shall I delete the printer once again?

Hi @Steffo,
Yes, it would be best to delete that IP address printer as we should be using the Bonjour protocol. I suspect the issue is somehow related to the network failing to broadcast the Bonjour protocol, or the printer settings interfering with this protocol.
On the front panel of the printer, please scroll to the second page of the home menu. Touch the setup icon, then navigate to, and choose Network Setup. In the Network menu, please choose Wireless Settings, then Advanced Settings. Finally, touch IPv6, and select No.
Once this is complete, turn off the printer, wait a minute or two, and turn it back on, then add the printer to the Mac again. When you add the printer, be sure to look under the Default tab, and under kind the printer should say Bonjour, or Bonjour Multifunction.
Please let me know if this does the trick!

Thanks for this. I didnt see the ipv6 Option on the printer setup menu but did a Network Setup wizard option. HP utility now sees the printer (as an older IP address) but doesnt give me the option of adding printer or scanner.

Now that we have done the Network Setup option, lets perform the network power cycle again we did back in Message 84. I will do some additional research to see what else could be causing this while I wait to hear back from you again.

Dear Ms. Wonderful Sunshyn:
My printer is working again!!! I've been combing these support forums for months trying to fix two problems: 1) my scanner stopped working and (2)my printer would only print one job, then stop until I manually delelted the completed print job and then unplugged and re-plugged things to make the computer think (I know it's a machine) that this was the first job.
No other suggestions came close! I just followed your instructions step by step. At one point I saw messages about the library and something else having confllicting information and that this disk thingy was fixing this. I got a little confused near the ending because my options seemed different that what you were describing, but I just muddled through and lo and behold it's working again!
I do have one question. After I downloaded the printer information, there was an image of an empty box that I had to double click to get the app installed. The box is still here. Do I still need it, or can I delete it?
Thank you thank you
Best regards,
eloise4
