209 Memory Condition (VREF NOT PRESENT)...

Good Morning,

I searched the forums and elswhere on the web but no luck.

I have a HP z800 here that when starting up,  POST throws the following error

209 Memory Condition (DIMM_WARN_VREF_NOT_PRESENT) detected

I tried reseating the memory but does not fix.  Is there something i can do to fix this or is this indicitive of a much larger issue.

thanks very much.

Re: 209 Memory Condition (VREF NOT PRESENT)...

Had you made any changes (perhaps upgraded the memory) before this error began?

Remove all but one memory module and place it in the slot closest to the CPU. Now try starting the pc. If no joy, then remove that module and replace it with the other module and try starting your PC again.

How to remove/replace memory modules

Are you able to enter the BIOS?

If you can enter the BIOS then run the memory diagnostic.

Re: 209 Memory Condition (VREF NOT PRESENT)...

Thanks,

no changes to Memory.  This seems to have started when we got a Red flashing power button and Beeping on startup.

I'll take the steps you suggested and see where that gets me.

I am able to enter BIOS so i well try the memory diagnostic as well.

Re: 209 Memory Condition (VREF NOT PRESENT)...

I suggest that you perform a BIOS reset. Use the Service and maintenence manual as a reference for doing this. Also consider resetting the PSU.
