Factory Reset

Touchsmart 600-1050
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried the factory reset from Recovery Manager and after the first reboot the screen turned black with the error message "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drive that don't contain an operating system . Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I have tried many things to recover it but nothing works including the 3 recovery discs created when the computer was new. Win 10 was running at the moment of the failed reset. Can anyone help me on this matter?

Welcome to the HP forums! It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community. I came across your post and wanted to assist you.

 

Let's start by:

 

1. Perform a hard reset on the Notebook. 

 

1) Shutdown the computer. 2) Unplug the Adapter and any other peripherals connected. 3) Remove the Battery. 4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds. 5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back in. 6) Turn on the computer.

 

2. Perform an extensive test on the Hard drive and Memory

 

1) Shutdown the computer. 2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears. 3) Press F2 once for System Diagnostics. 4) Go to Component test. 5) Run extensive Memory and Hard Drive test.
