Wifi in my laptop is not working/ keeps on being unavailable

HP Pavilion 14 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi. I have encountered this problem for a period of time already. The wifi icon in my laptop someetimes do not show and most of the time I see a red x mark instead. I tried restarting my laptop when I encounter this. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it does not. I tried to reset my connections as well but the wifi icon still not works.
