hi, wifi symbol missing in task bar nor showing in network setting, pls help

Thanks for the post and Welcome to HP Forums. 


I understand that you are unable to connect to your Wireless network and the network icon is missing from the taskbar. Happy to help.

Have you checked in device manager if the network adapter is enabled?


Based on the specification of your computer, the computer came with FreeDOS and you have mentioned that you are using Windows 10. Click here

Have you installed a retail version of Windows 10? 

If you have installed any antivirus on your computer, please make sure it is activated and not expired. 

To get the network icon on the taskbar. 

Click on the Windows button. 

Select settings.

On the Settings Window.

The first icon is 'System', click on it. 

On the System settings window, click on Notifications and actions.

There you have an option to Select which icons appear on the taskbar. 

Enable network icon there. 


For you to be able to connect to your network, follow the procedure mentioned below.

Open device manager by doing a right-click on the Windows button.

Please check if the wireless adapter is enabled in device manager (check if there are any errors)

Open network and sharing center by doing right-click on the network icon the taskbar. (once the icon is back on the taskbar.)

On the network and sharing center screen, select the option on the left - change adapter settings.

This would display the network adapters on the computer. 

Right-click on the wireless adapter and check if it is enabled and try to connect to your network. 

Recommend you to connect to 2.4Ghz network instead of 5Ghz network, in case you are using a dual band router.
