missing letters

hp envy 5540
macOS 10.12 Sierra

could anyone please help.

I had letters missing from an attachment email I tried to print mainly m and w this happened on my envy 5530 series and I thought there was a problem with the printer so I just purchase a 5540 to find I have the same problem.

 

any ideas please

What happens if you print to a PDF file?

I cant work out how to do that, I cant seem to get tht option

the document says pdf on it but it still prints with the missing letters

Is it possible that the PDF file is using a non-standard font?
