3D Scanner - S3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am new to 3D scanning and in the process of educating myself prior to sourcing a system. I have pretty much settled on the HP S3 dual camera system due to the combination of flexibility/upgradeability/quality of results. I plan to be scanning sculptures of newborn babies, printing a copy and using the copy to create a silicon mold. I realize the bottleneck for detail will ultimately be the resolution (although printer resolution is advancing very quickly) of the printer however I still would like to capture as much detail as possible for future possibilities.

Would I be better off to purchase a different camera and/or lense than the stock S3 unit(s)? If so can you please provide the relevant specs I should focus on and quality vendors. I also welcome any opinions you have that may help me with this project.

Thank you for your time.
