Fingerprint Scanner setup error

I lost track of the Fingerprint System password and had to reset the Protect Tools Security software. I'm trying to re-register my fingerprints. I registered one OK, but it requires at least 2 to complete the setup. When I try to register the 2nd finger, the first 3 scans always scan OK, but the 4th and final scan for a selected finger always results in a "doesn't match" - regardless of which finger I select.

 

I've even cleared everything out (including users and other admins, and pre-existing fingerprint registrations), uninstalled the appplication and set everything up from scratch and still get the same result.

 

The fingerprint scanner is clean, all software (OS, application, firmware, etc.) is current, and there are zero operational errors other than this specific issue.

 

Has anyone else had this trouble?

The issue still lingers - I am unable to complete the fingerprint registration process in Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

 

It works fine with Win 7 Pro 64-bit on the same system ( I have a dual boot setup).
