HP Zbook Studio G5 15"

Hello everybody,

I bought the HP Zbook Studio G5 15" in combination with the new G2 120W dockingstation. With this combination it is not possible to quick charge the laptop under heavy working loads.

The G2 230W dockingstation uses two USB-C ports to power the system. Is it possible for me to connect an extra USB-C charger of 65W next to the Thunderbolt connection of the dockingstation in case I have to run a heavy application and quick charge the laptop?

In that case I can connect the additional power supply when I really need it and use most of the time only one USB-C cable.

Thank you!

Does nobody know if this is possible or not?

In this video is shown how the 230W G2 dock is going to power the higher-end models of the Zbook series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFctMUAfDPA

In the video they are talking about a maximum dataspeed of 40Gbps, which means that only one of the two cables transfers data and the other cable is just there to deliver more power to the laptop.

My question: Would it be possible to use the 120W G2 dock with only one USB-C cable to power the laptop and connect an additional USB-C charger to the other USB-C connector in case I have to quick charge the battery and run some demanding applications at the same time.

Thanks!
