The tiny pin inside my HP Pavilion 14 Ts n200sia charger plug broken but, my laptop still charges.

 The tiny pin inside my HP Pavilion 14 Ts n200sia charger plug is broken but my laptop is still charging.  While i was trying to plug the charger to the charging port, i noticed a little stiffness while trying to fix it in  and a smell from the charging port. i quickly unpluged it, tested it meter and noticed there still power in it despite the broken tiny pin inside of it, and later pluge it back and it is still charging my laptop. I want to know the function of the tiny pin and recommendations. thanks
