EliteBook 840r G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have four USB-C Dock G4 units. All of them exhibit sporadic video issues when the dock has been in use for an extended period of time. The issues vary from total loss of DP monitors (Windows no longer detects them at all), to flickering on/off display output on the monitors, to loss of a single monitor (but not the other one).

For one user (EB 840 G5, with a single 27" 2K display via DisplayPort), unplugging power from the dock & reconnecting usually resolves the issue - 9 times out of 10, it comes back after a power cycle.

For myself and third user (both of us are using EB 840r G4's, with dual 1080p 27" displays both connected via DisplayPort cables), power cycling does not usually have any effect - We have to unplug the dock and let it cool down for an hour or two, then we try it again to see if the dock will work again. All three of our docks are updated to F.37 firmware.

The fourth dock, after the last time it overheated, totally lost its DisplayPort and HDMI out, as well as power delivery, and now it only passes through Ethernet and USB. The F.37 firmware updater doesn't even recognize it as a dock anymore.

Are any other USB-C Dock G4 users seeing issues like this?  Are your docks overheating or are you losing video?

And to the USB-C Dock G5 users out there, how is the newer gen working for you? Are you experiencing any ongoing issues? (If the issue is, in fact, isolated to the 4th gen model, then I might just replace these with G5s and move on.)
