EliteOne 800 G3/HP 231 Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have a number of HP EliteOne 800 G3 PCs and have a variety of HP monitors connected to them using Display Port, a number of these monitors are the HP e231 series.  We are finding that these monitors work fine for a while but that they are starting to "fail" - but the monitor itself is fine.

If we replace the HP e231 with an e232 or a different model its fine, and if we move the problem monitor to an HP EliteOne 800 G4 or even a G2, it works fine.  We've updated the drivers, we've updated the BIOS, we've changed out the cables - we are at a loss as to what could be happening with these monitors.

Any ideas?

since you don't describe the "failure" mode, but then state they work on another system the monitors are obviously not failing

in a hardware sense,...... but failing to display a image sometimes and this is usually caused when the monitor is told to use a non supported video mode or refresh rate

when either happens the monitor will blank the display to prevent damage to itself
