My Z640 has a 925w poer supply but the only 6-pin power plug I find remaining isn't sufficient to power my GTX 1070 video card under heavt use. It requires 2x 8-pin power plugs and the adapter I have installed is not always able to provide enough power. HP chat help wasn't any help. Do I need to install a new power supply that provides 8-pin pci-e power plugs?

@MacTheSteve, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the workstation.
I contacted StarTech to see if they would have a "Y" adapter that had two 8-pin power connectors. However, the ones they have would require the following on your motherboard or PSU:
Brandon from StarTech: Basically we need 4 of either SATA power or LP4 molex.
I believe that your PSU has enough wattage, but simply doesn't have the required connectors. At least, I didn't see them on the motherboard diagram. It appears that you will have to upgrade the PSU.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.
