Thank you for your response. I followed the steps you provided:

Plotter off

Neither USB/Ethernet were plugged in

1. Followed provided link, selected  OS: Windows     Version: Win 7 (64-bit)

Downloaded: HP Designjet T1200 and T770 Printer series Firmware Upgrade

Version: TT6-TTAJ_08_02_03.3

File Size: 456.9 MB

Release Date: Aug 24, 2015

2. Formatted 16GB thumb drive to FAT32

3. copied downloaded files to newly formatted thumbdrive

Name: TT6-TTAJ_08_02_03.3_mvl40-x86-opt_B.fmw

Size: 467,785 KB

a. Plugged the USB into the USB slot on the formatter, turned on power.

b. HP logo came up installation stalled at 41% and 58% for a few seconds and then the original error screen showed up again.  I never received the "update the firmware" screen.
