Z3200 to z3200PS conversion and Utility install issues

HP Recommended
Z3200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have heard of some techs doing a z3200 to z3200PS conversion by changing the board and drive. Has anyone done this and can confirm its like having a PostScript verion? And then how do you know if you have A or B when a firmware update is needed?

I am currently with the z3200A and still running a very old Firmware(10.0.0.2), as I don't see what would be fixed(?). The only issues I have is mainly with the SW Utility, which I cannot install on my Windows 10 x64. So I use Q Image and work with the web interface on other things, but I do wish it worked. For some reason my reservations have been the fear of "planned obsolecence" coding strengthed with newer firmware, and I am simply trying to avoid that.

Any thoughts?

I do not know about the ps conversion, but your model is determined by the last letter of the model. In your case you have the A version. Also all I can tell you is to be very careful when changing the electronics on this machine. There is back up information contained printmech pca located on the right side. You can screw up the model number of the plotter by using used parts in the machine where it may not work again due to model mismatches causing 79 erros.

Thanks David, yes I think the conversion includes the PrintMech. I understand how to look up the version on the rear, just wondering the differences after doing such an upgrade, will the parts need to be all from same version...But I guess this is a secondary concern. But since you are not familiar with this, it puts me back to point A.

Any thoughts on Firmware update needs?

Or Utility sw not working with Win10x64?

I read your advice in helping another z3200 user and you know the machine rather intimately, so...

Thanks for your reply!
