Hp w2207h monitor

I'm planning to connect my samsung smartphone via a USB c to hdmi cable to this monitor. And watching YouTube video from phone on the monitor.I guess the sound would come on the monitor speakers as well. Right.

Also trying on this monitor, if I hook external powered speakers to the audio output from monitor, will this play sounds through the speakers? Or is it able to?

That will all work fine. Both HDMI and DP support audio.

You might consider a Miracast dongle.  Usually under $20 , does 1080p, and avoids having to buy a usually more expensive HDMI cable

I used one on my iPhone when I thought Apple TV was free.  I did not read the fine print and later gave it to one of my kids to use with for a second monitor.

Should work with all WiFI smart phones.
