Does anyone knows of reliable alternatives to check or download clean BIOS updates?

Looking to confirm or update BIOS for HP Alhena motherboard in HP pavilion A1410y, with American Megatrends BIOS 3.18.  This box was manufactured September 22, 2006 and purchased few months later. It looks like the support for this model was already removed from HP website.

HP is the only authorized source for updating the BIOS in HP motherboards.

There is a very good chance if you found a BIOS update elsewhere the update may either corrupt the BIOS or install malware.

I agree that HP is the primary source of clean bios for this customized board. The difficulty comes when 10 years expire and all good information, including BIOS update files, are removed from their website. This creates the market for the back-door distributors that may be iffy and push possibly modified updates. This HP support strategy may be common among some manufacturers, but may not be the most productive. Perhaps better strategy is to continue providng free info that was already created (last versions) and could be supported by revenues from targeted advertising for newer HP products, or be subscription based.

As far as the search for bios files and basic bios version info for this HP modified RC-410  M is unsuccessfull.  I am sure the info is out there somewhere, but will need some more asstance and to find it.

I build desktop PC's.

No motherboard manufacturer supports a motherboard or provides BIOS updates for the time period you are expecting to see.

I wish you the best in your endeavor. I hope you don't get burned by a bad update.
