Computer wont start

Omen 870-255xl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I installed a BIOS update. Now I can't turn on my computer.  The screen went black after install. I waited a few moments but no restart. I hit the power button and held to see if I could reset to restart manually. Maybe I shouldn't have done this. Have I really damaged something? Or can I try what I read about hitting the windows key plus the B key and then the power button? Please help.

Computer wont start

Hi

HP have prepared rather lengthy documents,
and there are videos to watch, to cover, seemingly, all BIOS eventualities.

BIOS Problems LAPtops.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

BIOS Problems DESKtops.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00007682

BIOS CheckSum error
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01368145

There is a bit about the WinKey + B, so perhaps try that first....

  • Plug thePC into a power source.
  • With the PC off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time.

  • While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).
The HP BIOS Update screen displays, and the BIOS update begins automatically. This might take several minutes, and you might hear additional beeping sounds.
