Fast startup issue

@jr44039

Not ... until you provide so details descibing the actual problem and what you're seeing.

Telling us that you simply have an issue is of little help.

Fast startup issue

Hi

PWR and LID.png

If you have the above box checkd/ticked or just generally filled in

Turn on fast start-up

I suggest it slows things down.  So run a full diagnostic on the HDD.

What happens is the 'Dirty Bit' is set on the partition and therefore is not clean and suitable for a reboot.

It's in 'suspend' mode.

You would need to defrag, optimise and then defrag the swap file and the MFT area.

Then with a clean disk in good condition start the timing regime, Turn on Fast startup again if you want.

But remember a partition in suspend mode, with the 'Dirty Bit' set is very difficult to recover data from.

I personally prefer to ensure safer data recovery, then a few seconds saved on startup.

If in doubt please ask (and give lots of details about your situation).

A problem shared is a problem halved.

Oh yes, it's probably an MS fault rather than HP.
