Troubleshoot won’t load in boot menu

Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)
I have been having trouble loading up my laptop, when I start it up it goes through the whole preparing diagnosis ect but then takes roughly 6 hours to do that and then tells me it failed?? So i foundo it that by holding F11 durig start up it loads me at the boot menu and from there im supposed to click on troubleshoot and so on and enter some commands for it to work again.
The issue is when I load the boot menu and click on ‘troubleshoot’ it wont load the troubleshoot page? But the option is highlighted indicating that I have clicked on it..?

Troubleshoot won’t load in boot menu

Hello,

F11 is the recovery menu.

I would recommend tapping F2 after startup and using the HP UEFI to test the hard drive first. This way you'll know if it's a hardware or software issue.

Cheers
