Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-00xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I use my laptop, the HP Support Assistant tells me I have 9 updates I need to install on my Pavilion Desktop, but when I use my Pavilion Desktop, the HP Support Assistant tells me I have no updates to install.  Why is there a discrepancy, and which message should I trust?

HP Support Assistant should be used on the local machine where the HP Support Assistant is installed.

The "remote" monitoring function (at this writing) does not seem to work as one would expect.

It is not "you" (or your computer(s)), it is the software.

What does that mean?

Install HPSA on the Desktop computer and use the HPSA software on that computer.

Install HPSA on the Laptop computer and use the HPSA software on that laptop.

Ignore the monitoring of "not local" systems in "My Devices".

If you want a temporary method to see what is going on,

  • Open HPSA
  • Remove the remote ("not local") machine from the My Devices list
  • Restart the computer and log in > Open HPSA
  • Add the "not local" device back into the "My Devices" list

NOTE:  Might work - no guarantees.

Download, Save, Install the latest supported HP version of the HP Support Assistant
