HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 27-d0000i (7RC38AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Some software programs make substantial use of function keys. Some even use function keys in combination with other keys. So, why does my new HP Pavilion desktop not have an option to make function keys the default instead of the media keys (via either a keyboard Fn lock, or an option in the BIOS)? Consider the impact on folks who regularly use those keys for purposes other than fiddling with the brightness or the loudness of their machines. For example, my longtime word processing program has over forty function key and function key combinations. I use many of them. Imagine me trying to press Fn + Ctrl + Shift + F7 to update linked information in a Word source document (four keys at once instead of the three I'm used to.) Then, again, maybe this aging, late-seventies mind is missing something. I think its likely actually! Help form the community is welcome!

@agmcphee -- if I use the "search" function within this discussion forum, searching for "disable function keys", I get over 300 results.  So, you're not the first person to post the question.

Or, since you can detach your keyboard from your All-In-One, purchase a keyboard that lacks the "FN"  key, and use it.

That is what I have done, purchase a new keyboard. Thanks for your response.
