HP Pavilion 590-a0005na
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hey there.

I am trying to upgrade my pc's ram and purchased the correct ram but I keep getting beeps when it is installed. I was told it would hold 16gb of ram and have 2 x 8gb DDR4 2400Mhz PC4-19200 SODIMM 260 pin Non-ECC modules. I have tried single sticks in each slot but it still just beeps. The computer is a HP Pavilion 590-a0005na with 4gb installed on win 10 and is the intel Celeron J4005 version.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

hi

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06066651

  • Amount: 4 GB
  • Speed: PC4-19200 MB/s
  • Type: DDR4-2400

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two DDR4 SODIMM (260-pin) sockets
  • Supports up to PC4-19200 (DDR4-2400)
  • Supports 4 GB and 8 GB DDR4 UDIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
    note:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
  • Supports up to 8 GB (unbuffered) on 64-bit computers

Problem, bad info here, anyway mentioned only 8 gb max

come back with the 4 gb the computer works, so possible problem with the added modules

test the two 8gb modules in each slot, it works with 8 gb, so we have the answer
8gb max

the modules do not work alone, so compatibility problem with the modules

note

it seems to be the max capacity, also of the processor
