Can I upgrade my 1 TB HDD to a 1 TB SSD?  I know I could upgrade this product to a 256gb drive.

Product Number: 2TB61AV

Hi:

Yes, you should be able to replace the 256 GB M.2 NVMe SSD with a 1 TB NVMe SSD.

The Crucial memory/SSD report for your PC indicates you can install up to a 2 TB NVMe SSD

Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | hp omen 880 series | OMEN 880-160 | Crucial.com

The drive capacity is just what HP offered in the model series, not the max capacity supported.

A PCIe Gen 4 SSD will only run at the Gen 3 speed, so I would not buy one of those unless you plan on moving it to a newer PC that has a Gen 4 NVMe slot in the future.
